Please note this is general aftercare instructions for most skin types and scenarios however your aftercare may be uniquely tailored to you during your appointment by Mollie depending on many factors including your skin type, how your skin is absorbing the pigment, placement of the cosmetic tattoo, if you have allergies etc. so do keep in mind this is general advice and to check at your appointment if there is other directions you should follow.

In most cases you will receive an after care balm to use during the healing process however if this is not the case, please use a plain moisturiser or as recommended by Mollie unless you have been advised to dry heal due to skin type etc.

First day:

You’ve just had your cosmetic tattoo done and you’re already panicking about how dark and prominent it looks! (Don’t stress, this is normal and you do not need to panic!)

If you’re going straight home and staying in for the rest of the day there’s not much you need to do other than give them a clean before you go to bed with a small amount of soap and water on a damp cotton pad, just a gentle clean and leave to air dry or blot dry.

You do not need to apply moisturiser or aftercare balm today (unless it is for lip blush)

If you are out and about for the rest of the day, please keep a pack of plain face or baby wipes with you and make sure to keep your tattoo clean if you’re in a high pollution area, around busy roads, smoke/ vapes etc. You do not need to excessively clean,  just once or twice if you’re out for a pro-longed period and around these pollutions.

For the next 7 days:

Keep them as dry as possible (other than when you’re cleaning them)

Avoid swimming, steam rooms, saunas, excessively sweating etc.

Do not put any products on your cosmetic tattoo, other than after care balm that’s been given to you or recommended

This means you must avoid: makeup, cleansers, toners, facial acids or oils, moisturisers (unless told otherwise), SPF, exfoliators, medical creams etc.

Sunbeds, retinol, anti-aging and swimming should be avoided for 2 weeks

Your daily routine during the 7 day healing process:

Clean your cosmetic tattoo twice a day with a damp cotton pad and a small amount of soapy water, once in the morning and once in the evening

Ideally use a sterile or distilled water and a sensitive hypoallergenic soap

Blot dry with a clean cotton pad or leave to air dry

After cleaning, apply a small amount of your aftercare balm or recommended moisturiser

(unless you have been instructed to dry heal)

Other than this, you do not need to touch your cosmetic tattoo so please avoid touching it as much as possible

You may get some dry patches on your cosmetic tattoo, please do not pick!

After the 7 day period you should assess whether your tattoo has finished healing and is no longer in the ‘scabby’ phase - at this point you may go back to your daily skin care but please avoid retinol and anti-aging for another week.

Please give a full 2 week period before judging your new cosmetic tattoo, some take longer to heal then others and sometimes the tattoo may still be slightly dark or light within this time so just give it a moment to settle before judging the final result :-)

If you have any further queries or want to check any products your using, please feel free to pop me a message as I’m always available to help!

Thanks so much and enjoy! Xx
